Working from home is fantastic, but it’s also lot of pressure. Anyone who tells you being self-employed is easy is telling a lie. There are still those usual pressures such as deadlines to meet and although you can decide when to work and when not to you always have to make sure you have the self-discipline to work to your target. The other problem is if your equipment packs up you are the one who has to sort out all the problems and pay for replacements if they cannot be fixed, and that can cause major problems.
A Broken Screen Meant Work Had to Stop
Not too long ago I had a major issue with my laptop. I have children in the house and my teenager was on my laptop checking her email while I made myself a cup of tea. Within five minutes, my fully working, lovely shiny laptop turned into a good for nothing device with a smashed screen. Our dog jumped up on her lap and the laptop fell onto the floor, hitting the table on its way. The screen was so badly damaged it was impossible to work on.
Now I don’t have a lot of money and I don’t have any spare equipment so I had to find a way of solving the issue immediately. I also had no insurance at the time so I couldn’t just rely on my policy to cover the replacement. It was a disaster, and with work deadlines looming I was starting to panic. However, I did manage to find a solution.
Work On Finding the Right Part to Save Money
Instead of replacing the entire laptop I focused on getting the screen fixed. I contacted a local computer repair guy who was able to give me a rough quote, which seemed horribly high. Before committing to him I decided to look online and see if there was any way I could find the right parts and fix it myself. I actually came across a place where I could pick up my exact screen and the price seemed really good. I researched fixing it myself and while I think I could have done it, I decided to call the repair guy back up and see how much he would charge if I could supply the part myself.
The costs were a fraction of his original quote and the total price of the replacement screen and his labour was much less than his initial quote, so I decided to do that. The problem was solved and now I know that there is no need to pay more than you need to. Always look online and find an affordable solution before rushing in to an expensive service.
If you would like to find laptop screens for all sorts of manufactures makes and models look online and don’t pay more than you need to.
