The EM530 is a notebook computer series brought into the market by one of the most prominent names in the tech industry. It brings consumers the speed of the Intel Atom N450 Processor and the sleek compactness of a 10.1” WSVGA LCD screen with a native resolution of 1024×600 pixels. The device has 1GB of DDR2 RAM, just enough for today’s regular computer functions. It packs a 160GB HDD, which isn’t much if you look at it compared to other notebook computers out there but it wouldn’t really matter if you don’t rely on your notebook computer for media. The 6 cell Li-ion batteries make the EM350 last for 8 hours of continued usage, making it last through short to moderate trips on the bus, train or on the plane. It features 2 USB 2.0 ports and the regular audio and microphone jacks. It also has an SD-card slot, so transferring files from other devices won’t be an issue. Lights on the front of the unit at the bottom of the keyboard give the user information on various things such as whether the memory is working or if the caps lock is on, which is pretty handy.
The Acer EM350 works up to par with the general quality of the notebook computers currently in the market. It is a pretty competent portable computer that doesn’t let you down whenever you need it. With a weight of just 1.1kg, the EM350 is a lightweight solution for the businessman or student on the go, and even if you aren’t working while traveling, the EM350 will work for you just as fine as your main work computer. It will surely fit snuggly inside a sling bag and even more easily in a backpack. The EM350’s size is really comparable to premium notebooks that have been launched into the market.
Windows XP is the stock Operating System for the EM350, which really isn’t a bad thing because it has been proven that Windows XP works better on notebook computers due to its less intensive resource usage compared to Windows 7. Acer has optimized the system with which the EM350 operates to deliver maximum functionality to its users.
There really aren’t a lot of bad things to say about the Acer EM350; if there was one gripe I had about the EM350, it would be that it doesn’t have much storage space for media. However, if you are a student or businessman looking for a decent notebook computer that delivers the functionality of a personal computer in a very compact package, the EM350 is really a notebook worth considering.
