If you don’t have enough energy to make it through the day, you are not alone. A control room is a harsh environment, as you sit hunched over monitors with poor posture and minimal exercise.
The cameras can pick up illegal activity, but the person supervising needs to be alert at all times in order to be aware of the warning signs.
Here are eight ways for security guards sitting in control rooms to beat fatigue and improve your energy levels.
Number one: Exercise
Exercise is a way for your body to strengthen. A good exercise routine leaves you energized and happier. A person, depending on their health levels, can comfortably exercise between four and six times a week.
Number two: Eat correctly
The correct diet is vital to maintaining your energy levels. A diet high in sugar will have you either on a high or low, depending on when you last consumed food. A balanced diet contains foods such as yoghurt, nuts and plain carbohydrates. Eating five to six small meals a day will keep sugar levels stable and give you the necessary energy to complete tasks. It is important to remember not to skip a meal, as this can also lead to a drop in sugar levels and productivity.
Number three: Take a multivitamin
A multivitamin allows your body to obtain all the vitamins, minerals and calcium that your diet may lack. This in turn boosts your immune system and gives you a great energy boost.
Number four: Stretch and move
The control room design you constantly have to monitor a number of screens, and because of this your body takes strain. So it’s important that you do some simple stretches throughout the day to prevent your body from experiencing discomfort.
Number five: Sleeping patterns
A sleeping pattern is created and can be changed to suit your needs. Creating a solid pattern that suits your body will allow you to maximize your rest period and improve energy levels. The way to create this sleeping pattern is by going to sleep and waking up at the same time daily, Monday to Sunday, and not to starve your body of sleep.
Number six: Hydrated
The first thing you reach for when you are tired is coffee; this is not the correct way. When you are tired, it is often because your body is dehydrated and requires water to rehydrate. Dehydration can cause a lack of concentration, low sugar levels and in serious cases, dizziness.
Number seven: Listen to music
Listening to music relaxes you and puts you in a good mood which translates into a higher productivity level. Therefore, when you are tired, listen to music and improve your concentration.
Number eight: Reduce stress
Over stressing will take its toll on your body, so it’s important to manage this. Exercising will help but also look at how you can restructure your lifestyle to prevent further stress in the future. Restructure your life and make a change, together with a healthy lifestyle, you will feel like a new person.
