Everyone knows how important it is to stay fit. After all, there are tons of benefits to both exercise and working out.
Many of us work out to work on our so-called ‘problem’ areas, whether or not they truly exist. In some cases, we simply perceive these imperfections, but working out can help to gain a sense of satisfaction.
There are two main times when people decide to hit up the gym and sign up for that magnificent membership: the day after New Year’s and right before summer occurs. Of course, this does not mean that there is no accurate time to sign up for a gym, whether you decide on visiting the best gyms in Philadelphia or in the city where you currently reside.
However, if you are a first-timer when it comes to going to the gym, there are a few things to know about equipment. It sure does help to have a personal trainer to guide you, but if that is outside your budget, then it is time to look into various workout machines and how they can ultimately benefit you and that body you have been dying to achieve.
1. The Elliptical
This machine is, in a sense, a godsend. The elliptical machine can be found in many major gyms because its purpose is relatively simple: to burn off any additional calories you do not want to keep stored in your body. Aside from the treadmill, this is an excellent cardio workout which can help you burn off plenty of calories, depending on your dedication and endurance. According to a recent study by the Health Status, it was found that by using an elliptical trainer for one hour will burn approximately 773 calories. That is not too shabby if you are interested in burning off roughly half of your caloric intake.
2. The Treadmill
This is a fairly obvious one—in fact, once you step foot into a gym, one of the first things you will notice is a multitude of other members walking, jogging, or running on them—and for a very good reason. Much like the elliptical machine, a treadmill is an excellent cardio exercise and is a go-to for quite a few. Plus, depending on your tolerance, it could help you tremendously with building up your endurance and being able to take on more settings, allowing you to work out harder and burn off those cheesecake calories (or whichever indulgent snack you cheated on your diet with) with remarkable ease. There is certainly no doubt about it—the treadmill is a favorite for many—and you can even burn up to 800 calories an hour, depending on your speed.
3. Stationary Bikes
A stationary bike is perfect for the gym newcomer. In fact, many experts believe that stationary bikes offer a high quality workout with the least amount of impact on the joints. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with knee pain; this explains why they are so attracted by them. The impact of the body weight is not a concern like it would be on various other machines, such as an elliptical or treadmill. Plus, your legs will be in tiptop shape and ready to show off this summer season.
There is no doubt that working out has an extremely positive influence on your life. So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for a gym today and experience the positivity.
